Security for Border Detention Facilities

Security for Border Detention Facilities

Very recent Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) data compiled by Syracuse University reveals that there were 20,892 individuals housed in ICE detention as of January 15, 2023. Currently, ICE detains undocumented migrant individuals in over 200 detention centers throughout the United States, including privatized facilities, state and local jails, juvenile detention centers and shelters.

Border Detention Center Security Needs

In the first quarter of FY 2023, the five states with the highest migrant detention populations were as follows:

  1. Texas 10,174
  2. Louisiana 4,833
  3. Georgia 1,824
  4. California 1,773
  5. Arizona 1,621

As more influxes take place, these numbers will continue to grow. That means more border detention facilities will need approved government security contractors to supply them with managed security equipment. As a Schedule 84 General Services Administration (GSA) contract holder servicing the entire United States, ASI Security can be that contractor.

Border Detention Security Technologies

ASI Security designs, installs and maintains security technology for facilities managed by government agencies. This includes border detention facilities and other properties that house migrants during times of extreme influx. When working with your government agency to meet the demand for border detention security, we can provide:

  • Access and door control systems
  • Alarm and signal systems
  • Fire detection systems
  • Intercom and paging systems
  • Law enforcement and security equipment/supplies
  • Live guard and facility management
  • Perimeter and intrusion detection
  • Physical access control systems
  • Unmanned aerial systems (UAS/drones)
  • Video surveillance systems

These are among the most common requests we receive from government agencies in need of border detention security. However, we offer additional turn-key technology solutions for needs ranging from forensic and drug testing to firefighting and rescue.

Field technology supplies, including special purpose clothing, vehicular video systems, wearable body cameras and SeaPort-e marine craft, are also available to our border security partners.
